در مورد اینکه پولوشرت ابتدا از کجا وارد صنعت مد شد، عمدتا دو نظر وجود دارد:
عده ای معتقدند پولوشرت توسط ستاره تنیس دهه 20 میلادی یعنی رنه لاکوست (Rene Lacoste) تولید شده است و عده ای دیگر نیز اولین پیدایش پولوشرت را به مانیپور هند (Manipur, India)در اوایل دهه 1800 میلادی مرتبط می دانند، جایی که ورزشکاران رشته چوگان به عنوان پیراهن رسمی این رشته از آن استفاده می کردند. در اوایل دهه 1860 میلادی سربازان انگلیسی در مانیپور هند شاهد مسابقات محلی چوگان در این کشور بودند. مسابقه دهندگان این ورزش از پیراهن های آستین بلند از پنبه ضخیم با یقه هایی پهن استفاده می کردند، اما به علت گرمای زیاد این لباس و همچنین عدم راحتی ، تغییراتی در این لباس توسط انگلیسی ها انجام شد. آن ها تصمیم گرفتند دکمه هایی را به یقه این لباس بدوزند تا از تکان خوردن بیش از حد و برخورد آن با صورت ورزشکاران جلوگیری کنند. در حدود سال 1862 انگلیسی ها چوگان را به کشور خود بردند و به عنوان ورزشی مفرح آن را معرفی کردند.
جان ای بروکس (John E. Brooks) یک مغازه دار آمریکایی که در صنعت پوشاک فعال بود و بعد ها کمپانی برادران بروکس را پایه گذاری کرد، در طول سفرش به انگلستان در سال 1896 در یک مسابقه چوگان شرکت کرد و متوجه دکمه یقه پیراهن های بازیکنان شد. بروکس به ایده درخشانی دست یافته بود ، او این ایده با با پدر بزرگ خود که سال ها در صنعت تولید پوشاک در آمریکا فعالیت کرده بود در میان گذاشت سپس آن ها شروع به تولید پیراهن هایی مشابهی با یقه دکمه دارد کردند که شکل تکامل یافته تر آن امروزه در صنعت پوشاک با نام پولوشرت شناخته می شود. کمپانی برادران بروکس کماکان پیراهنی تحت عنوان او سی بی دی (OCBD) را تولید و به عنوان لباس مخصوص چوگان به بازار عرضه می کنند. در اوایل قرن بیستم میلادی رنه لاکوست بنیانگذار برند مشهور لاکوست طرح نهایی پولوشرت ها را معرفی و روانه بازار مد و پوشاک کرد. در واقع پیراهن هایی که امروزه به عنوان پولوشرت می شناسیم را رنه لاکوست، ستاره سال های دور تنیس فرانسه طراحی کرده است.
پولوشرت چیست؟
در واقع به تیشرتی که دارای یقه باشد، پولوشرت (polo shirt) گفته می شود. پلوشرت ها دارای یقه های برگردان و دکمه دار هستند که تعداد دکمه در آن ها متفاوت است. اکثر ورزشکاران بخصوص ورزشکارانی که در رشته گلف، تنیس و چوگان فعالیت می کنند از پولوشرت استفاده می نمایند به همین خاطر به پولوشرت، تی شرت تنیس یا تی شرت چوگان نیز می گویند.لازم است بدانید که برخی از پولوشرت ها دارای جیب و برخی فاقد جیب هستند. از این رو انتخاب نوع آن به شما بستگی دارد. در واقع می توان گفت که پلوشرت ها بهترین گزینه برای داشتن یک استایل شیک و جذاب کژوال و راحت مردانه می باشند.
